At 818 Dental, we are trained in a range of orthodontic treatments, including the traditional fixed braces, and also such modern computer-guided treatments as Invisalign. Invisalign is one of the most popular orthodontic treatments available, and with good reason. It offers an aesthetically preferable alternative to fixed braces – a much more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing way to correct your bite.

How does Invisalign work?

It starts with an examination by your 818 Dentist at our Armadale surgery. As well as determining your suitability for Invisalign treatment, we need to be confident that you have no other dental conditions, such as cavities, which would interfere with your Invisalign treatment. We’ll determine the extent of correction needed, and whether it is best accomplished with Invisalign. Once we’ve agreed on a treatment, we take impressions of your teeth. These are used to create a 3D computer model of your present bite. We then use a computer program to create a virtual model of the corrected bite, “moving” your teeth on the screen to the positions we want them to reach. We send the two virtual models to the Invisalign lab, where they create a series of clear guides which incrementally adjust the teeth. Each stage is designed to move the teeth up to 0.33mm. Depending on the severity of your malocclusion, you will need anything from 6 to 48 alignment increments. A typical Invisalign treatment extends for just over a year.

What do I have to do?

We will instruct you on all aspects of using your Invisalign aligners. You will have to wear them for at least 20 hours per day, and pay particular attention to your oral hygiene.

Are Invisalign aligners comfortable to wear?

Invisalign aligners impact far less on your day to day life. They are comfortable and easily removed for eating, brushing, flossing and for special occasions.

How do I know if Invisalign is suitable for me?

Invisalign is suitable for most orthodontic cases and is effective in correcting a vast array of misalignment issues. To confirm that Invisalign is a suitable treatment option for you, we invite you to have a consultation with one of our Invisalign trained dental practitioners.
