Veneers are thin layers of porcelain which bond to the frontal surface of the teeth. They are an excellent, cost-effective way of:
- Closing up minor gaps between your teeth.
- Correcting the appearance of minor misalignments.
- Restoring broken teeth.
- Improving the appearance of a discoloured tooth.
Why Choose Porcelain Veneers?
For the treatment of minor defects, veneers are far less costly and less invasive than alternative modes of treatment such as crowns or orthodontics, and produce much faster results. That said, the preparatory process does involve removal of some of the natural tooth, and should only be entrusted to a skilled clinician. Your 818 Dentist will discuss all these aspects with you, and has extensive training and experience in porcelain veneer treatments.
What’s involved in having Porcelain Veneers?
The procedure is similar to having a crown fitted, and, like a crown procedure, involves two appointments at our Armadale surgery – the first is to prepare the teeth and take impressions from which the veneers will be created, to be fitted and bonded at the second visit. A very small amount of the natural tooth will be removed to prepare the tooth for bonding with the veneer.
How Long do Porcelain Veneers Last?
Veneers, when properly cared for, are very durable. They should last at least 10 years, and many will last much longer – 30 years is not unheard of.
